Skater’s Quest Trail Event Fall 2022


We are excited to present the 7th Annual Skater’s Quest Trail Event as part of SkateDC Weekend. If you have never participated in an endurance skating event, this is the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, have fun and raise money for DC Inner City Excellence (DC-ICE).

NEW – Virtual Option
If you would like to participate in this event and would prefer to skate on your own, you may still compete with our virtual option. Skate your distance on the Indian Head Rail Trail between September 25th – October 7th. When done, submit a photo of you on the trail along with a screenshot of your finishing time before 12:00 AM October 8th to be included in the race results.

AGE CATEGORIES

Junior 14-18, Senior 19-24, Classic 25-34, Master 35-44, Veteran 45-54, Grand Veteran 55-64, Esquire 65-74, Grand Esquire 75+


COURSE

The course is on the Indian Head Rail Trail (which is 13 miles long). The start and finish will be at the White Plains end of the trail and the turnaround will be determined by your event distance. There are intersections to cross so please be prepared to stop for traffic! There are 5 portable toilets along the trail.


EVENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligibility – All participants must be at least 14 years of age.

  • Waiver – All skating participants must check in and complete a waiver prior to skating.

  • Drafting & Etiquette – Cross-gender drafting is permitted. All skaters are requested to skate on the right side of the trail to allow for incident-free passing by cyclists.

  • Event Number – All participants must wear their event number on their left thigh and hand in the tear tag when finishing.

  • Protective Equipment – All participants are required to wear a helmet and wrist protection. Knee and elbow pads are recommended.

  • Personal Hydration – It is recommended that all participants bring their own personal hydration system (e.g. water bottle or Camelbak) or have supporters available to hand you water bottles.
