SkateDC Weekend

Friday, October 7 - Monday, October 10, 2022

Friday, October 7 - Monday, October 10, 2022

SkateDC 2021 is a celebration of DC skating! Washington Area Roadskaters is pairing up with Skater's Quest, DC Inner City Excellence (DC-ICE), Inline Skate Ninja, and local quad skating groups. Do you like Urban skating? Racing? Trail skating? Quad skating? Skate parks? Skate dancing? If so, then we have something for you!

2022 is a year of experiments and improvising, so we're mixing things up - and we'll be updating as things develop.

  • Friday

    • 7pm - FNS route starting from Freedom Plaza (13th & Pennsylvania Ave NW)

  • Saturday

    • 9am - Skater's Quest Trail Event (Marathon, Half-Marathon, & Rollerblade 10k Challenge). For more info, please visit: https://www.skatedc.org/skaters-quest-trail-event-fall-2022

    • 10am - To the Wharf starting from Freedom Plaza

    • 2pm - Riverwalk Trail Skate starting from Anacostia Skate Pavilion (1500 Anacostia Dr, Washington, DC 20020)

  • Sunday

    • 9am - Introductory Skate Route starting from Freedom Plaza (Back in time for most hotel checkouts)

    • 10am - Skate to Alexandria starting from Freedom Plaza (Intermediate/Advanced route should be back by 2pm)

    • 4pm - Dino Skate Art led by Chris

  • Monday

    • 11am - Skatepark Spectacular starting from Freedom plaza (stops at 3 different skate parks throughout Washington, DC)

We're also including a timed marathon and half-marathon option! - at the Indian Head Rail Trail in Maryland. That's a 45-minute drive from Freedom Plaza, so we'll help you to find carpool buddies (offer or ask in the discussion), and we may rent additional transportation if needed.

We may even add another skate or two. We aren't planning on an event hotel because in past years, people preferred to find their own lodgings.

All skates will begin and end at Freedom Plaza, other than the Indian Head Rail Trail events and the Anacostia Trail Skate, which will begin at the trailhead in Boyds, MD, and the Anacostia Skate Pavilion respectively. Skates depart 15 minutes after the group-up times.

It's a social-street-skating weekend, not a race. Helmets required. Participants on quads, inlines, boards, bikes are welcome, please join us!
