About Skating with WAR All our street skating activities have common threads. Read about skating with the club before you come out for the first time. |
No Precipitation, Dry Road Surface
WAR Skates are held if no precipitation is occurring and the road surface is dry or drying.Temperature
In the event of extremely cold or warm temperatures, skate leaders may cancel a skate at their discretion. The guideline for extreme temperature is below 40 degrees or above 98 degrees at the start of the skate. The same conditions apply to the WAR Clinic. If you are in doubt or just want updated information about an event, contact the event leader or check the email list. (View the calendar for information on specific skates.)
What to bring: water and/or sports drink, goos/gels/energy bars, energy food like bananas, safety equipment, personal identification and money, just in case.
Street skates are free... does not include: equipment, travel, insurance, beer, parking tickets, or skin grafting. Newcomers are welcome and encouraged to attend events before deciding to join WAR. Skating with us is fun and free.

Safety ...comes first. Know your limits. Wear the proper Gear. For a good safety guide, see WAR's safety tips

Skate at your own risk!
No matter what happens, you are
personally responsible for everything that you do during a skate. Accidents do happen, and the club
highly recommends that you only skate with us if you have your own health insurance. The club is a
low-key group of people who skate together, and can not assume liability of any type.

Maps of Wednesday Skates
Since the skate routes are chosen by skate leaders, no two skates are exactly the same. WAR member Steve uses a GPS Unit to record and plot some of the Wed night skates, which he periodically posts to this website. You can look at the miles covered, hills up and down, altitude changes, and areas that we skate. If you went on any of these skate routes, you can compare how you did with where the miles and hills are. If you are unfamiliar with our Wednesday night skate, you can look at these maps to get a sense of what our typical Wed skates look like.
