Safety Equipment
The Equipment Page
Almost all skate manufacturers make safety equipment. For people just starting out we recommend full pads (wrist, elbow, and knee) plus a helmet. It's an investment in the beginning but compared to a nasty case of road rash it's really a small price to pay. Falling is a fact of life. You will fall down... Don't let it get you down.

Organizations
The National Skate Patrol
A network of volunteers who help skaters coexist with cyclists, pedestrians and others.These red-shirted volunteers conduct free braking clinics, offer tips on skate etiquette, and otherwise assist new and experienced skaters alike.

Bike Helmet Safety Institute
Bike Helmets also double as skate helmets, and amazingly, it only takes a few stickers to make the conversion permanenet and complete. This vVolunteer group does technical research and advises consumers about helmet safety.
