Also if you are traveling and want to skate in DC, renting skates is a way to lighten your suitcase. Don't forget to rent pads and a helmet also. Skates are relatively inexpensive to buy. If you find yourself renting more than three or four days, you are already about halfway to the price of an decent entry-level pair.
