Skating with WAR
How do I find out about a WAR skate?
This website offers a Calendar and Events page. For specific events, cick on monthly or weekly. To find out about last minute changes, check the e-mail archive or send an email to the leader.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for the skates but we encourage you to become a full-fledged member of WAR by paying yearly dues.
Getting to the skate
Whats the best way to get to most WAR skates?
Usually parking is not a problem but since you will have your skates with you, taking the Metro then skating to the start is always an option.
During the skate
What if the skate is going too fast or goes down a hill for which I'm not ready?
On a street skate you may find a hill or obstacle that is beyond your comfort level. This is normal. Tell the skate leader! He/she will help you assess your options which may include a taxi or the Metro so make sure you have some cash with you.
Learning to Skate
How can I get lessons or instruction?
WAR offers free clinics in Rock Creek Park. There is also an extensive Resources section on this site providing infromation about lessons, instructors, and camps.
