Right you are, Jubran.  I already feel more at ease.

The Sunday Intermediate Skate will begin promptly at 2455291.125.

It will be interesting to see if stating the start time that way will encourage a whole new group of people to come out for the skate.

At this point I'd like to take a moment to remind folks that sadly it is still illegal in DC to openly carry your unregistered phaser.  So keep them at home people.  And think long and hard about whether you really want to come out for the skate wearing a red shirt. *

Cheers,
George

George,

When the date and calendar become confusing, I find it helpful to revert to using Julian days, or better yet Julian dates.  This Saturday 4/3 is Julian day 093.  Sunday is Julian day 094.  The Julian dates get more specific than the days and therefore simplify planning since they incorporate the year and the time of day.  For instance, this Saturday's Indian Head skate will begin at 2455290.125, the Sunday skates will begin at 2455291.125.  There is absolutely no ambiguity or risk of confusion there.

Hope this helps.

Let's see.......
......does anyone happen to know what Star Date it is today?

Updated this time to account for the fact that Sunday is one day later than Saturday. Just to be clear, the Saturday skates are on 4/3/10 and the Sunday skates are on 4/4/10.

[ Remember when the math-is-hard Barbie doll came out a few years ago? You know, the one that said "Math class is tough,' when you pulled her string. Well, if you pulled my string it would say: "Calendars are tough." Because they are! Much tougher than math class if you ask me. I don't know, sometimes Barbie just said the silliest things. And don't even get me started on "Will we ever have enough clothes?" * ]

Chris informs me that he is starting the slalom skate practices again on Saturday mornings. It's been added below.

Wednesday Night (3/31/10) Advanced Skate, leaves 7 PM from the White House, led by David Churchill.

Friday Night (4/2/10) Beginner's Skate, leaves 7 PM from the White House, led by George Marinkovich.

Saturday Morning (4/3/10) Slalom Practice/Class, from 10 - 11:30 AM at Hoffman-Boston Elementary School Arlington, VA, led by Cliff Anckaitis.

Saturday (4/3/10) Indian Head Rail Trail Skate, leaves 11 AM from White Plains, MD (http://tinyurl.com/White-Plains-Parking),led by George Marinkovich.

Sunday (4/4/10) Intermediate Skate, leaves 11 AM from the White House, led by George Marinkovich.

Sunday (4/4/10) Advanced Skate, leaves 11 AM from the White House, led by Carl Ford.

This information and additional details are available on the www.skatedc.org calendar.

WAR skates are held if no precipitation is occurring and the road surface is dry or drying. However, the final decision as to whether a skate will be held rests solely on the best judgment of the skate leader.

  Happy skating,
  George

  * Did you know Barbie was born in Willows, Wisconsin? She's had an had an on-off romantic relationship with her boyfriend Ken since 1961. A news release from Mattel in February 2004
announced that Barbie and Ken had decided to split up, but in February
2009 they were back together again. And entre nous, did you know that Barbie was friendly with Blain, an Australian surfer, during her split with Ken in 2004? Neither did I.
