Yeah, we're getting to the point where the Friday Night Skate should be starting up again. Although by tradition they have officially begun after the Inaugural Skate, I'm not sure we need to wait for April. So I'll schedule the first Friday Night Skate for next Friday (3/26/10). I just hope the weather is as nice as it was this past Friday. The WAR calendar will be updated and it will be announced in the "This Week's Skates" memo.
The weather tomorrow promises to be not too shabby. Two skates, Intermediate and Advanced, leave the White House Sunday at 11 AM. There are worse things you could be doing than skating.
Cheers,
George

Subject: [SkateDC] My son Billy likes his new skates
We went out to the roller rink in Odenton last night to give Billy's new skates a try. That turned out really well, he had the happiest look on his face as soon as he started rolling. He skated for an hour except for a couple of snack breaks, which is much better than his endurance with his previous skates. That was in a rink jammed full of 13 year old kids so maybe he will do even better on an adult skate night. I am hoping to get Billy back into the Friday Night WAR skates this year.
Billy's new skates are Rollerblade Fusion X7, same as the ones I have been using since last autumn. They seem about as comfortable and as easy to handle as a skate can be. They are designed for "urban" skating. They have 90mm wheels on a very good short frame.
Today Billy and I are about to try our first bike ride to the Zoo for 2009.
Bill
