Everyone knows the beltway (Interstate 495) surrounds Washington, DC, leading to the popular phrase "inside the beltway." But, did you know that all of DC is not inside the beltway. Where is the part of DC that's not inside the beltway? Hint: we've skated there before.
Did you know that most of the public libraries in the DC metro area have reciprocal membership policies? So for example, if you live in Montgomery County you can get a library card in DC and Fairfax County. The reverse is also true. The library system I'm most familiar with, Montgomery County Public Library, has a very nice recorded book collection on cassette tape, CD, PlayAway digital audio (http://www.playaway.com/about-playaway/), and digital download. It's the only way I could possibly afford my books-on-tape addiction. Many very recent computer books are available for online viewing through Safari Tech Books. And you can get online access to things like the Oxford English Dictionary. Movies on DVD too. All at no cost to the user.
Enjoy,
George
