Hey all,
The event you've waited for all year long is upon us: Capital Bocking USA.
There was enough interest in this on the Friday Night Skate to justify a re print. These are just the events I plan on attending. The full schedule is available at the link at the very bottom of the email.
On Sunday, after the Sunday Intermediate skate is over, I plan to go up to Columbia Heights and search for the Urban Stilt Walking Tour. I don't imagine anyone will have a problem with us following the walking tour on skates, as long as we don't interfere with the stilts.
Cheers,
George

David Churchill, one of our regular Wednesday Night Advanced Skate leaders, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Capital Bocking USA on the weekend of June 25 - 27, 2010.

I caught a small part of this event last year as a spectator and it was a lot of fun. And if you think you might like to be more than a spectator, you'll have the opportunity to try bocking yourself on Sunday.
Just a few selected highlights from the schedule:
Saturday (June 26):
11:00AM-12:30PM: DC Monument Terrain Challenge at Freedom Plaza
"If you haven't seen dozens of people on stilts leaping,
bounding, and doing acrobatics while competing for points, then you will
not want to miss this spectacle."
3:00-4:00PM: Washington
Monument Capture the Flag at the Washington Monument
Capture the flag on stilts with the Washington Monument grounds as the game board. [This sounds awesome, I don't plan to miss this.]
Sunday (June 27):
11AM-1PM: Urban Stilt Walking TourStarts at Columbia Heights Metro ends at Meridian Hill Park
2-5:00PM: Public Tryout Lessons at Meridian Hill Park"DC Power Stilts
believes
that the only way to spread the excitement and joy of this new sport is
to show it to you and let you experience it yourself. Many people [especially skaters] learn to balance easily and are able to bock around after
only a few minutes. Bring your friends... everyone can try it and photos
are encouraged."
