Formal 40 on the 3rd of July.  For a number of reasons, not the least of which is that there are already 3 WAR skates scheduled for Sunday July 4th, the Formal 40 will take place on Saturday the 3rd.

This Independence Day Weekend tradition continues. This year we skate it on the 3rd. We'll skate the Washington & Old Dominion Trail (W&OD), starting in Vienna, VA. We'll meet between 7:30AM and 8:00AM, and leave at 8:00AM. All levels are welcome. The typical format is to skate 20 miles out then 20 miles back so if 40 miles don't suit you just pick your own turn-around point for the distance of your choice, greater or lesser. 

We'll meet at the W&OD parking lot in Vienna, VA, by the Red Caboose.

Typically the group winds up broken up into several smaller groups of similar ability/speed. Bikes, skateboards, powerbocks, etc.. are welcome to join.

For those who want to do lunch afterwards, there is a lot to choose from in Vienna.  No "Formal" lunch plans, we'll just wing it on the day of the event.
