Both of the regular Sunday Intermediate Skater leaders will be at Philly Free Skate on Sunday (6/20/10), which means...
some lucky skater will get the opportunity of a lifetime to lead the Sunday Intermediate Skate this coming Sunday.
It's not hard to lead a Sunday Intermediate skate (Hey, even I can do it! Really, how hard could it be?). Among the many things you DON'T have to be to lead a skate: a former drill sergeant, a great skater, a fast skater, or even someone who knows the city intimately, In fact, it can be an incredibly easy thing to do. And did I mention that it's fun too!
The route can be as simple as you want. For example, down Pennsylvania Ave. up the Capital Crescent Trail as far as you want to go, then turn around and skate back to the White House. Or a modified Friday Night Skate loop. I will help any volunteer skate leader, if she or he wants, with creating the route. You can even lead this skate if you're very new to the group. Really. Think outside your comfort zone, people can do much more than they realize.
This can be a one time only thing, just to help us out of this temporary skate leader shortage. I promise not to pressure you to lead any additional skates. On the other hand, you just might find that you enjoy it. It can be addictive.
And you'd have the undying gratitude of your fellow skaters ;-)
Let me know if you're willing...
Thanks,
George
