Well, lets get the good news out of the way quickly, shall we: we likely won't miss the ending of Goodbye Girl since the later it gets the less chance of rain there is (after 9:30 pm there should be no rain).
There is, however, a pretty good chance of a passing thunderstorm before 8 pm. The movie won't start any earlier than 8:30 pm so there's a decent chance that we may get through the movie without rain.
A decent enough chance that I'm willing to give it a shot. I will arrive before 7 pm, prepare to weather the thunderstorm (if there is one) before 8 pm and if all goes well make the staked out space nice and dry by 8:30 ;-)
I've been pretty lucky forecasting the weather lately, but all streaks come to an end sometime. Just in case it would be wise to bring some rain gear.
If you're just interested in the movie and want to stay as dry as possible, then come before 8:30. If you're interested in food before the movie come earlier but be prepared for some moisture.
Cheers,
George

Everyone is welcome!
Monday, July 19 - THE GOODBYE GIRL. Richard Dreyfuss won an Oscar(r) for his endearing turn as Elliot, a struggling New York actor who finds himself saddled with two unwanted roommates. (1977) 110 Min. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076095/)
Once again I will be staking out space with blue and gray tarps as close to front and center (with respect to the screen) as possible when I arrive sometime before 7 pm. I will try to set up here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3867485 center of the screen as close to the gravel sidewalk in front of the screen as possible. I will be wearing blaze orange. I hope to have a _working_ mobile with me (in which case my number is iii-0-i iii-vi-vii viii-iii-vii-iv), but that is really a hope rather than an expectation ;-) The film should start sometime after
sunset (8:30 pm).

Let me know if you're coming (and how many you are) so I can reserve the proper amount of space. I'll issue a weather update around 5 pm.
The location is the National Mall west of 4th Street, between Madison and Jefferson Drives.
Closest Metro stations are Archives/Navy Memorial, Smithsonian and L'Enfant Plaza.
Parking: I'm recommending parking at L'Enfant Promenade where free on-street parking opens up at 6:30 pm. You can probably get closer (it's at least a 6 block walk) but there should be spaces available there and I hate driving around looking for parking.
Cheers,
George
