David led a great 13.5 mile skate to Summer Delights in Takoma Park via 19th St, Kansas Ave, and 3rd St, returning via Piney Branch Rd, 13th St, and Arkansas Ave. Nice run through Piney Branch Park and great visit to
Meridian Hill Park. Absolutely brilliant route from
Meridian Hill Park to U St (via Kalorama Rd and Chamberlain St -- now my favorite way down from Meridian Hill, much superior to
16th St).

Skaters skating: David, Bob, Cathy, Rudy, Fabio, Tom, Todd, and yours truly.
Refreshments at Froggy Bottom Pub followed the skating.
The weather was both stupendous and colossal ;-) And it promises to be that way for the weekend too, although Sunday afternoon is supposed to be very warm. No chance of rain the entire weekend!
If we do a skate on Monday it would be smart to do it in the morning while it'll be a little cooler. After about 70 miles skating on the weekend, I'm thinking of a little intermediate skate Monday. Let me know if you're interested in this. Also, anyone know if parking is free in DC on Monday?
Cheers,
George
P.S. Jeffrey's Wednesday Night Skate a week ago was also awesome!
His was a classic Wednesday Night skate route with a great twist:
climbing Woodland Rd rather than Cleveland Ave. (I have nightmares about
climbing Cleveland Ave ;-) Jeffrey has led this route many times in
the past (Heller Anne led it once too) so you're probably familiar with
it. Another great feature is timing the downhill on New Mexico. It really
works. Wait at the bus stop at the top of the hill on New Mexico and
watch the 2nd traffic light
down the hill. Wait for it to turn red, then count for 16 seconds,
then skate downhill. All the traffic lights will be green the whole way
down the hill. Skating down New Mexico without stopping is a blast!

Refreshments were had at Cap City in Shirlington, including a really tasty Red Wheat and Blue (berry) hefeweizen.
These skates are the stuff dreams are made of... anything this much fun is probably illegal ;-)
