Mike Zosa sums up nicely a trip to Europe that some skaters from Texas
are puting together. I guess this would be called EuroRoll, Y'all!

Greetings, Euroroll-deprived,
No, I still haven't gotten one together, and it's prolly too late for
this summer, BUT some Texans are going to France and Germany (August
6-17), and they have some room left. It's $2200 plus airfare, but
includes most meals and there's alot of skating possible (inn-to-inn
along the Mosel!), not to mention BOTH Paris skates.

Hi skaters,
I've just joined the group to let you know about a great trip my
friends and I are taking to Europe this summer to skate. We've got 13
people committed (reservations and deposits made!) and I'm willing for
the group to be as large as 20.
Accomodations are 3-4 star hotels with great restaurants. All rooms
have private baths. Prices are per person for double occupancy. I made
a brochure with the detailed itinerary, hotel links, and photos of
hotel rooms and sights along the way for anyone interested. Just
e-mail me at steve.bland at garygreene.com
The trip is in three legs, and you can take any or all of them.
Leg one is 3 days in Paris (August 6-8) for the Friday night and
Sunday afternoon skates. The hotel is a block from Montparnasse
station, where the Friday night skate starts. This leg includes only a
hotel room and breakfast, so lunch and dinner and touring expenses
need to be budgetted. The cost is $215.
Leg two is the meat of the trip, 8 days of inn-to-inn skating on the
Mosel river. A substantial breakfast, packed lunch, and gourmet dinner
are included--one night dinner will be a 4 hour medieval banquet in a
castle, served by wait staff in period costume, with troubadors and
jesters. We will have one 'static' day at Cochem, during which we will
hike up the Eltz river to Burg Eltz, an amazing restored castle in the
river valley. Night stops are in Thionville, France; Remich,
Luxembourg; and Trier, Neumagen, Traben-Trarbach, Cochem, and Koblenz,
Germany. The cost of this leg is $1550 and includes a train from
Paris. Anyone taking this leg also gets trip insurance for any of the
three legs they are joining us for.
Leg three is two days on the Rhine river. Night one is at a fabulously
restored castle in Oberwesel (likely the highlight of the tour!) The
last night of the trip is in Wiesbaden, which has been a spa town for
2000 years. I'm looking forward to soaking in the thermal springs and
getting a well-earned massage (not included in the cost of the trip).
This leg is $435.
The information I can send you will include a deadline of 12/31/09.
This was for the people here in Houston who have been hearing about
the trip for close to a year. Any of the new people should be able to
get in on the trip, assuming there is space left, if I hear from you
by mid-February. Deposits are a maximum of $500, though the second
payment (about the same amount) is due in mid-February. The last
payment is due in April, with trains being paid for in June.
Not sure if ANYONE will contact me, or if ten will. So it's just up to
fate as far as there being room left! We don't need any additional
people for the trip to be a go, I just thought it might be fun to add
some enthusiastic strangers.
Ask me any questions you might have, or request the brochure and
detailed pricing information. (Michael Zosa, who I believe is the
moderator of this group, already has them)
