[SkateDC] SkateDC Weekend May 21-23! Cone Plan

Jeremy,

The skate I am leading during Skate DC Weekend is the Late Skate, which starts at 10:30 pm on Friday, May 21st. It is a relatively short easy route to take in some of the city's nightlife hot-spots. I already plan to bring along an FM transmitter and some boom boxes and my iPod with dance music, plus my own cones. We will stop at the riverside park in Georgetown which is a good place to dance and do cones. May fit in another cone stop or two along the way, play it by ear and see what kind of audiences we can work.

I have led this same skate on a similar route a couple of times, and I bring out the music system a few times a year and it works pretty reliably.

I would be most pleased to have lots of extra coneheads coming along on this skate. And extra boom box mules too.

I am improving the route a little bit to take one of the steep hills out of it since it caused a bit of trouble for some skaters last time. Should be an unqualified success for 2010.

Sometimes people talk about a pajama skate. We don't actively encourage pajamas for this skate anymore, but the late skate evolved out of the old pajama skate which we did occasionally.

Cones can be a part of Skate DC Weekend in other ways besides during the Late Skate.

Hi guys,

Just emailing again to see if we can come to a final decision on the location and time.

Also added Naomi to the email who is eager to start promoting this once its solid.
