All criteria is correct accept the last one about rain is not a big issue if it's a light rain (slalom can be done in light rain). Also, the lighting does not have to be that great either as the cones are very bright and easy to see (I practice on a tennis court at night sometimes with no lights).
Most important is to get best available level surface where we can play music.

smooth, level pavement, preferably within easy skating distance of the White House, suitable for a slalom demonstration. Somewhere we could set up a cone course for a demonstration of freestyle slalom skating to be held during our Skate DC Weekend.
Ideal characteristics:
1. smooth (something a little better than the stretch of Pennsylvania Ave. where we meet).
2. level (shouldn't be on a slope)
3. absence of imperfections (avoid things like sidewalk seams)
4. somewhere we can set up cones and not have to move them until the end of the demo
5. within 15 minutes skating distance of the White House
6. somewhere we could play music and not get kicked out
7. lighted so we can possibly use at night
8. all-weather (somewhere we could demo out of the rain, if necessary)
If you know of a location that meets most of those criteria (especially the first 6 critical ones) then please let us know.

By the way, Naomi Grigg, featured in the video above is scheduled to perform at the slalom demonstration.
Now, we just need a nice venue...
The skate pavilion in Anacostia Park is ideal, but unfortunately not within 15 minutes skating distance of the White House.
Thanks,
George
