Every year the League of Washington Theatres sponsors a "Free Night of Theater" by giving away up to 2 tickets per person to one of a number of performances at a variety of local theaters.

Free Night of Theater tickets "go live" on Thursday, October 1 at 12 noon!

Visit the League of Washington Theatres website (www.lowt.org) for all the details, including participating theatres and a list of Free Night of Theater performance dates and times.

My suggestions for successfully getting a ticket:

1.  Check out the Performance Dates and Times before Thursday at:http://www.lowt.org/fnot/performances.html.  Determine what your first 3 performance choices are before Thursday.

2.  Bring up the site www.lowt.org at or before 11:45 am on Thursday (10/1/09)

3.  A little before noon, hit refresh (F5) until you see the link appear where you can reserve tickets.  In my experience most of the tickets go in the first couple of minutes or so.  If anything, this has become more popular, so tickets may not even last that long.

4.  Type fast!  You don't have your tickets until it tells you that you do.  The tickets go to the people who FINISH their reservation first, not those who START their reservations first.  In other words, you can't take your time answering the questions and entering your information, but must be quick.  You can enter all your information and then be informed that the tickets for that performance have already sold out.  Again, be quick!

A few things to remember:

*  Quantities are limited and generally tickets go very quickly, but do check back as additional tickets may become available.

*  Tickets must be reserved through the League of Washington Theatres website (www.lowt.org); no phone orders.

*  You may reserve tickets (2 maximum) for one Free Night of Theater performance only-we want to give as many people as possible an opportunity to have a Free Night of Theater.

*  You will receive a confirmation of your reservation; your tickets will be waiting for you at Will Call at the theatre on the night of your performance.

*  This is a great opportunity to try a theatre you've never been to, or to bring a friend who has never been to live theatre.

*  Because ticket quantities are limited we will again be posting a Free Night of Theater Discount Ticket Coupon offering discounts at a number of area theatres during the run on the program.

*  Get online early!   In the past, most tickets have been snapped up in the first 30 minutes or so.

One interesting performances this year is "Julius Caesar in the Haunted Ruins" which is performed outdoors in the ruins of the Patapsco Female Institute.  "Instead of sitting in front of a stage, you will walk about from place
to place in the Ruins.  You’ll watch one scene under some trees, then
move into the Ruins to watch a different scene and then switch to the
other side of the building to watch another."  More info at:  http://www.chesapeakeshakespeare.com/faqs.html

Good luck and we'll see you at the theatre!

Enjoy,
George
