Skaters,
I was expecting a big crowd of skaters today because I promised an easy Monument Loop route and I sent e-mails to all my skate friends to remind them about it. We also had perfect weather. Only Eryx showed up to skate with me. The two of us had a very nice time, and finished the route at 10:50. We skated a little more then went over to the benches to wait for the advanced skaters. Jeffrey came out to lead the Advanced Skate. He ended up skating the Shirlington loop alone.
Does anyone know why skaters are not coming out? Did someone hold a big party Sunday (or Saturday night) and forget to invite me? Did some of you get turned-off by the easy Monument Loop route, hoping for something more challenging?
Please contact head skate leader George (skatewash at yahoo.com) if you know of a way to make the Sunday skates more popular. Is it time to bring in some more appealing new skate leaders?
Bill

Bill English will lead the next Sunday Intermediate Skate from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW. We should roll away at about 9:15. Will use the Monument Loop this time, same as our usual Friday route. If there is time we can optionally skate a couple extra miles at the end. If that does not provide sufficient exercise, you can continue skating with the Advanced leader beginning at 11:15.
The Monument Loop lacks big hills, and the Sunday morning traffic is very light. If you are a confident park skater who can keep going for two hours, you are ready for our next Sunday Skate. It will be quite a bit easier than our usual Sunday Skates. Spread the word so all your skate friends get the good news.
