[SkateDC] Sunday Intermediate Skate (10/25/09)

The skate leaves the White House at 11 AM and will be roughly 11 miles long and involve relatively flat terrain.

We'll take advantage of the Marine Corps Memorial to skate on some streets that will be closed to vehicle traffic and possibly catch a glimpse of one of the following runners:  

Carl Ford (wearing the red Beer Patrol t-shirt), 
Jennifer Swalwell (yellow Michigan shirt), 
Karin Brown (bright yellowish/green shirt and black shorts), and 
Lynn Pencek Minni (orange top and black shorts and sneakers).

I should be getting spit time text messages for each of the four runners every 5k of the marathon route, so I may modify the route if it seems that we will have a good chance to actually see one of the runners run by during the skate. As near as I can tell the time splits will occur at these locations as the runners run over the rubber timing mats:

5k - Spout Run
10k - Clara Barton Pkwy at Georgetown Reservoir
15k - Wisconsin Ave and K St
20k - Hains Point
25k - Independence Ave at Tidal Basin
30k - Madison Dr at the National Gallery of Art
35k - I-395 at Boundary Channel
40k - Pentagon
43k - Iwo Jima Memorial (finish line)
