Hey all - Who's going to the Great EsKate? I am!! Hooray! It's Feb 19-21, 2010. For those who don't know, this is THE premier social skate event of the year, 3 days of skating and socializing in Miami Beach with skaters from all over the country. No, they didn't pay me to write this. I just wanted to let everyone know who's planning to go that if you register by November 4 you will get the lowest registration fee. Check it out --

Subject: [icb_announce] Halloween events on wheels this Saturday

After Tuesday's event got rained out, at least part of
Saturday is supposed to be dry.

During the day, 9:30 to 1:30 is the Tour de Graves. 18 miles over 4 hours.
I haven't contacted the organizers, but when I have done MassBike sponsored
events in the past on skates, there has never been a problem and always a few
questions about when/where there are group skates. Remember to bring something
to walk in at Mount Auburn at the end. Costumes encouraged.

Saturday evening at 8:30 going to 11:30 there is the 9th annual Halloween Ride.
Last year they claim they had 240 riders.
Why stick to one website, they have two
http://www.truthserum.org/halloweenbikeride

While they don't post the route, they say this year's route will be
similar to last year's. Link here:

I contacted them about having skaters on the ride. The writer to the
return email seemed a little stunned that skaters would want to join them
and a bit unsure. I am thinking if they have an average speed of 4-5 mph
and 240 people they shouldn't have any trouble with a few skaters joining
them. And if you have a good costume I'm sure they will be glad you came.
