Mercury Cup (in DC) earlier this year. The loop was 0.8 miles so the
racers came by often. There were no buildings inside the loop. From the
high areas you could see the distant points.

They had a very poor spectator turn-out but the bike event was great. Had
quite a few international racers (Gram Miller of New Zealand won the men's
pro race and an Australian came in 3rd )

It's worth seeing if they have it next year. If you've never been to a
short track bike race it's quite a bit more exciting then seeing it on TV.
Being 2 feet away from a tightly packed but constantly weaving mass of bikes
zooming by at 33 mph is not dull. It gets even more impressive on the
inside of a turn.

The only down side was the interspersed running events. Nothing against
running, but after a bike race the running seem like slow motion.
