Saturday (5/30/09) and Sunday (5/31/09) Cultural Tourism DC is again sponsoring a weekend of more than 120 free walking tours (and bike tours).  For more details please see:

If you have any interest in DC these tours are wonderful, and did I mention, they're all free.  Some require online reservations, for more details visit the site given above.

I highly recommend the "History Before History:  The Geologic Saga of Washington, DC"
Sunday, May 31, 1:30 - 4:30 pm, if you have any interest at all in geology (Callan Bentley is fantastic).

I also highly recommend "Spies of Georgetown," but then so does everyone else which explains why it is already sold out (Carol Bessette is a living DC treasure).  This will probably be offered in the fall as well.

This is what I'll be doing, join me if you're interested in any of it:

Sat. 5/30
10am - noon: Lincoln Assassination
1pm - 2:20pm: Courage! The Civil War in Washington
3pm - 4:30pm: A Free Black Woman - Elizabeth Keckly

Sun 5/31
10am - noon: Scandals, Scoundrels & Scallywags:  The Seamier Side of Georgetown
1pm - 2:30pm:  Chinatown (what are the odds we get to the end of the tour without someone quoting "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown")
3pm - 5pm:  Georgetown (presumably the less seamier side; devoid of all scandals, scoundrels & scallywags)

Enjoy,
George
