[SkateDC] SkateDC Weekend shout-out to DC skaters

Carl, thanks are due to you for that sensational new route we skated on Saturday.  We broke ground on virgin territory that took us on roads, trails, highways, construction sites, overgrown hillsides, and the Potomac River.  With added bonus skates-off stream crossing!  This is a route I look forward to skating many times in the future.

Thanks also for your excellent homebrew IPA and I will absolutely agree that our guests had a great time.

Although the Pittsburgh skaters are a bit disgruntled trying to figure out how to "Skate everything *and* the rivers", and the Boston club is checking the Charles River water taxi schedules...

Speaking of which, the upcoming skate weekend list is as follows:

Philly Free Skate June 19-21

Skate Boston  July 17-19

Big Apple Roll Aug 14-16

Canada Roll End of August

We hope you can make it to one or all of these outstanding skate weekends!

Thanks to a bunch of DC skaters, SkateDC Weekend 2009 went off as well  
as it possibly could, considering the weather.  We got spritzed a  
couple of times on Saturday, but it didn't dampen anyone's good time.  
>From what I heard, our guests enjoyed this weekend A LOT.

There are a bunch of local folks to acknowledge.  In no particular  
order, a big thank you to:

-George for organizing skate leaders, playing host on Friday, getting  
supplies for Saturday's water stop, and sweeping Friday and Saturday

-Emily for playing hostess, getting supplies for the water stop, and  
sweeping Friday and Saturday, and doing the train portion of  
Saturday's skate

-Susan for getting the hotel, writing handouts for our guests, and  
soliciting volunteers

-A big thank-you to Paul Froyd for buying tickets for Saturday's water taxi

-Bill English for providing a cooler, leading the late Friday skate,  
and sweeping on Saturday

-Tom & MyeongHee for meeting guests Friday, bringing coolers, and  
sweeping on Saturday

-Jeffrey D. for volunteering for Saturday and Sunday afternoon skates

-David Churchill for volunteering to lead Friday and Sunday morning

-David Hunter for assisting with Saturday's skate

-Tony for assisting with Saturday's skate

-Shawn Brown for playing host on Friday

-Kent Gunlicks for getting '09 T-shirts printed fast bringing them to Froggy

-all of the rest of you for coming out and showing our friends a good time!

If I missed anyone, my deepest regrets.

It will be great to have a break from planning, but let's do this  
again next year!
