Hi Cliff,

First, welcome to the skate list.

Second, when you finalize the details, please let the skate list know and if you'd like I can  post them to our website's calendar.

Third, people in our club used to set up a cone course on the closed-to-vehicles part of Pennsylvania Ave. in front of the White House.  The asphalt directly in front of the White House is not as nice as it used to be but there are very nice smooth stone portions of Pennsylvania Ave. on either side (Old Executive Office Bldg. side and Treasury Dept. side).  The Park Police and/or Uniformed Secret Service seem to be OK with roller hockey games being set up in these areas so it's likely they would object to a cone course.

You would also have a ready made audience of people watching since there are always people there, if that's of any interest.  In the old days the cone skaters used to practice on Sunday mornings and into the afternoon, and while I didn't participate myself I do remember watching before and after our Sunday street skates.

This Saturday (Fourth of July, 8:30am) is our annual Formal Forty on the Fourth Skate on the W&OD trail so some who may be interested in freestyle slalom skating might be there instead.

Good luck with your efforts, and I hope to give it a try or at least watch one of these days.

Cheers,
George

All,

I am new to this forum.  I will be starting Freestyle Slalom skating practice group in Arlington VA, beginning this Sat morning (for 1 1/2-2 hrs).

If you are interested please reply with an email by 5pm Friday afternoon and i will coordinate on the location/time etc (as i am still working out details).

I will give a 10-15 minute lesson. All most already know how to skate at least at the advanced-beginer level.  At this time I would like to limit this to adults.  I am a good skater, but a beginner slalum skater, i just completed a 4-day workshop.

Hopefully some of you would be interested or can pass this call on to others who might be.

Thanks,

Cliff Anckaitis
