I will be leading a series of three Saturday skates past all 174 embassies in DC.  The skates leave the White House at 9 AM on the next three Saturday mornings.

They are fun, but challenging, intermediate skates with a fair number of hills and will go on some streets in DC we don't typically skate.  It might be more accurate to say that they are advanced skate routes that will be led at a beginner skate pace ;-)  Because of the easygoing pace they will each take a little over two hours to complete.  An effort has been made to avoid unnecessary hills, to climb steep hills only when necessary, and to descend gentle hills when possible.  However, you should be very comfortable with braking and able to control your speed going down hills.

Here's the schedule (all skates leave the White House on the given Saturday at 9 AM):

7/25/09  West Embassy Loop:  55 Countries from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Liechtenstein (12.8 miles)

8/1/09  Central Embassy Loop:  44 Countries from Guinea to Switzerland (15.5 miles)

8/8/09  East Embassy Loop:  75 Countries from Canada to Mexico (13.0 miles)

Skate route cue sheets showing embassy flags in color can be downloaded in PDF format at the links given below.  Click on "Free Download," enter the given 4-digit code and then click on "Download File."

Bicycles are welcome, but will probably want to take a detour around the stair section of the West Embassy Loop.  There are no stair sections on the other embassy loops.

Cheers,
George
