Skaters!
Please join DC-ICE this Saturday, from 10:30-12:30 in Fort Dupont Park for the District's very first Feet in the Street event. (Flyer attached) DC-ICE is scheduled to host two in-line skating activities:
In-line Skating Demo, 10:30-12:00pm. Location: tennis courts along Ely Place, below the ice rink
(same location used for Summer I.C.E. Camp). Skaters will demonstrate
basic skills, plus pace-lines, and slide-boarding, plus fun games
rollerball and sharks & minnows. It's a fun chance to recapture
the in-line fun of Summer I.C.E. Camp plus welcome new skaters to the
sport and the club.
ALL AGES & ABILITIES WELCOME! Including total beginners. [We'll have some equipment for those without skates -- plan to arrive at the rink at 10am if you need gear]
Parking available at Fort Dupont Maintenance yard, or along Ely Place (both just off Minnesota Ave), or at FDIA.In-line skating tours of Fort Dupont, 10:30-2:30 DC-ICE skaters will help lead skating tours of the park along Fort Dupont Drive & Fort Davis Drive (experienced skaters only). These rolling roads
promise to host a great workout and also great fun ("for every uphill,
there is a downhill"). In-line tours leave every half-hour from the
Activity Center, not far from the park's Randall Circle entrance at Minnesota & Massachusetts.
Hope to see you Saturday for this end-of-summer skating fun:
It's a great way to welcome new skaters and to showcase our program for
the rest of the city, including several District agencies, including
Parks & Rec, Transportation, and National Park Service.
