Seven skaters left the White House under brilliant blue skies on
the following route:

The middle of the route featured plenty of territory never skated
on an official WAR skate.

One skater left us on Eisenhower Avenue to find a Metro station.

Because I was not able to scout the route yesterday (I was drenched
by the time I got to Old Town), I had to go from memory for the
stretch between Eisenhower Avenue and Lacy Rd.  As a result, there
were a couple of switchbacks (and whatnot) as I felt my way around.
One skater had an I-Phone, and I must say that I was impressed by the
ability to have Google Maps in the middle of nowhere to help me out of
a jam.

Two GPS devices that made it back to the White House showed 30
miles.  I believe them.

One pleasant surprise was our meal after the skate.  At the
suggestion of a skater, we tried Vapiano on H Street in Chinatown.
They were not busy and they were happy to have the business.  The four
of us who ate there recommend them as a Sunday post-skate option.
They serve pasta and pizza of decent quality, though the beer
selection is nothing special.  I suspect that on Wednesday and Friday
night, they would have too many people for us to show up on skates.

One skater, having skated from home in the morning and skated back
to home under late-afternoon sun, got 37 miles in on the day.
