Skaters,
On Saturday, August 29th, from 9 am to 3 pm, motor traffic will be blocked from Fort DuPont Park so that skaters, bikers and pedestrians can fully enjoy the roads, hills, and magnificant views that this park offers.
How many park loops can you do before you have had enough of the big Massachusetts Ave descent? Bring a good whistle so you can warn pedestrians not to step into your path when you are doing 30 mph! There is a nice rollout at the bottom so you won't have to use too much braking.
The name of this event is "Feet in the Street"

@Fort DuPont Park, SE DC
Walkers, runners, bikers, and skaters will take to the streets of Fort DuPont Park at the first-ever Feet in the Street celebration on Saturday, August 29. The District Department of Transportation and the National Park Service teamed up to close the park’s roads to motor vehicles—and boost physical activity, green transportation, and community spirit.
From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., visitors can enjoy organized hikes, community garden tours, bike rides, physical fitness demonstrations and more, sponsored by the Ward 7Councilmember Yvette M. Alexander, Washington Area Bicyclist Association, District Department of Parks and Recreation, Unique Development, Fathers First, Anacostia Watershed Society, Environmental Leadership Program, and Far Northeast Consortium. The 1.6-mile car-free corridor includes Fort Davis Drive SE between Ridge Road and Pennsylvania Avenue and Fort DuPont Drive SE between the activity center and Fort Davis Drive.
