I will be leading an East Embassy Loop Skate this Saturday (8/8/09)
that will skate past the embassies of 75 countries, starting with Canada and finishing with Mexico.

This skate, the final one of the Embassy Loop Skate series, hits the embassy mother-lode, that is, all the areas with high embassy densities (Massachusetts Ave. and New Hampshire Ave. in particular).  We will see almost as many embassies on this skate as were seen on the previous two skates combined.

The skate leaves the White House at 9 AM on Saturday.

It
will be a fun, but challenging, intermediate skates of 13 miles with some hills and will go on some streets in DC we don't typically skate.   It should be a less hilly and easier skate than the previous two Embassy Loop skates.  Nevertheless, due to the relatively slow pace of the skate I expect it to take over two hours to complete.  An effort has
been made to avoid unnecessary hills, to climb steep hills
only when necessary, and to descend gentle hills when possible.
However, you should be very comfortable with braking and able to
control your speed going down hills.   With regard to hills, we will in essence be going up Massachusetts Avenue and coming down Wisconsin Avenue.
