[SkateDC] SkateDC Weekend is next week!

Hey, all -- volunteers are sorely needed for SkateDC Weekend. PLEASE reply to me (susan at burgerman.net), Carl (ford at dcaccess.net), Emily (citiskate at yahoo.com), and George (skatewash at yahoo.com) if you can volunteer yourself or your stuff! And please resist the impulse to hit "reply all". Final schedule to follow soon.

Here's what we need bodies for:
  a.. Assist with skates. We'd like to have four volunteers on each skate to sweep, hold intersections, etc. That means we need up to 20 skate volunteers. You don't need to be NSP or even have a red shirt (although it's always handy) or even be especially fast, just be a strong skater. 

  a.. We NEED SOMEONE WITH A CAR (we can reimburse gas/parking/whatever if necessary) who can make her/himself available on Saturday morning from 8:00am until app. 1:00pm. This person will 1) 8:00am escort Carl to drop his car off at the water stop and drive him back; 2) be at the White House at 9:45am to get cash for the ferry tickets from Emily; 3) drive to National Harbor to purchase the tickets and hang onto them until the skate gets there at roughly 12:30ish; 4) either drive home or join the skate for the return leg and leave your car at National Harbor, in which case we will reimburse parking and get you back to pick up your car.  

  a.. Assist with registration on Friday afternoon. I hear you thinking: "but there's no registration fee, so why bother to register?" Easy -- everyone needs to sign a waiver, pick up a piece of paper with the schedule and vital information, and -- here's the interesting part -- hand over $10 for the ferry and water/gatorade, and get one of those annoying bracelets in return. Emily will be sitting pretty in the Homewood Suites lobby (location on www.SkateDCWeekend.info) from 2:00pm on Friday until the skate leaves the hotel at 7:00. She needs at least one extra pair of hands.
Here's the stuff we need:
  a.. Three LARGE coolers for the Saturday morning water stop. If at all possible, we would like to have them on Friday night. We will return them after the skate.
