[SkateDC] Easter Egg Shuffle Conflicts with Inaugural Sunday Skate

A really ambitious and energetic skater could actually do both skates, since the Inaugural Skate is over at 1om and the Easter Egg Shuffle doesn't start until 2pm.

However, that would mean missing out on the lunch at Cap City.  Since I make it a point to never miss an opportunity to eat and drink, you'll find me doing both at Cap City after the inaugural skate.

It should be really nice on Sunday:  high temperature in the upper sixties, partly sunny, little chance of rain, balmy breeze out of the south west, the very heart of cherry blossom season.

Perhaps there will be a second annual Easter Egg Shuffle next year and we can avoid the scheduling conflict.

Hope everyone has a great time skating Sunday (with or without eggs).

Cheers,
George

Does anyone really want to skip an excellent scenic Washington DC skate plus lunch at Capitol City Brewing Company so that they can pass an egg around while skating on the boring old BWI trail? Unfortunately, the Easter Egg Shuffle conflicts with the annual WAR Season Inaugural Combined Skate.

All skaters are welcome to participate in the WAR Season Inaugural Event. The route has a minimum of hills and bad pavement, so people who mainly just enjoy the Friday Monument Loop should do great this Sunday. And the cherry blossoms are in full bloom too so bring your cameras. The skate departs from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW at 11:15.

Features of the Inaugural Skate:

A slow, easy pace. 9 miles in about two hours (unless you want to break away from the main group part of the time for some improvised speed skating).

Chinatown Gateway

Law Enforcement Memorial

Navy Memorial

The National Mall

HUD Flying Saucers

Washington Channel Yacht Harbor

The Titanic Memorial

Fort McNair

Nationals Park

Washington Navy Yard

Eastern Market

Supreme Court

The Capitol & its gardens

Verizon Center

Capitol City Brewing Company (lunch stop)

The White House
