An open meeting of the Washington Area Roadskaters was convened to discuss a number of issues. Present at this meeting were the following members of the Board of Directors: Emily Bennett, Rica Guarnieri, and John Rossetti. The following WAR members were also present: David Churchill, Jubran Selim, Eryx Malcolm, and Danny Donoghue.

1. Old Business:
   • Board Member Elections and Annual Meeting, Friday, January 11, 2002
     There are seven board members positions open. Emily Bennett, Carl Ford, and Joe Kramer have agreed to serve as board members for another year, if they are selected. We need all of you to consider becoming a board member/officer next year. The continued success of the club depends on your participation. Attached hereto is a list of the board member/officer duties and responsibilities. Last year this meeting was very well attended and it was at Rica's house. Unfortunately, Rica has moved and we need a new location. We need your help in finding a location for about 20-30 people. Do you have a large apartment or house we can use???
   • The Winter Party is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Saturday, January 26, 2002
     Last year this party was held at the Rock. However, this year we would like to have it at some location where people can bring food and where we would have access to a kitchen to heat the food, such as a VFW hall. We would also like to have a place that has either a pool table, darts, or other activites. If anyone knows of such places in DC or very nearby, please let us know. If you have access to a recreation/multi-use room at your apartment or condo, please consider whether we could use it. We need a location for about 50 or so people.
   • 2002 WAR Shirt Design.
     Now is the time to voice your opinions about next year's shirt design. Please submit your design proposals in writing to warballot@yahoo.com. All proposals must be received by 11/18/01.
   • We Are Soliciting Donations for Items We can Raffle Next Year.
     If you can help out in contacting a business please let us know. This is a big job for a few people, but is easily tackled with many people. Please help out.
2. New Business
   
   • WAR Phone Will be Discontinued.
     You may not know it, but WAR has had a phone number with Verizon for a few years now. We have a voice mail service. 90% of the calls are for info about roller hockey and the location of roller rinks. We pay about $360 per year for this service. With the vast improvements of our website and the added information available on it, we have decided to discontinue our phone number. It is simply not cost effective and has not been very useful in attracting new members to the club.
   • Lighted Wheels
     Jubran Selim is working on getting information about lighted wheels (you may have seen Jubran's at night). Once he gets all the specifics about cost, etc. we will provide you with the information.
3. Next Meeting: Monday, November 19, 2001 at 7pm
   The next meeting will once again be held at the Irish Channel Inn located at the Red Roof Inn, 500 H. Street, N.W., Wash., D.C. in Chinatown.
