Sat, 30   7:30 AM Long Distance Skate (50 to 80 miles) on the W&OD
We'll skate the Washington & Old Dominion Trail (W&OD), starting in Vienna. We'll meet between 7:00AM and 7:30AM, and leave at 7:30AM. All levels are welcome, but each person will be on his/her own as far as finding a pack/paceline consistent with their own ability. If you are concerned about being left alone, come with someone of similar skill/ability.

We'll meet at the W&OD parking lot in Vienna, VA, by the Red Caboose.

This will not be like our street skates. We won't be stopping every 3 to 5 miles to regroup. This is primarily a training skate, and every person has different goals. We'll all be on the trail at the same time, but we'll be broken up into smaller groups of similar ability/training goals. Those who would be interested in a shorter distance are welcome to join as well. Bicycles are also welcome.

NOTE: as of 8/18/03, the section of trail near MM28 that was closed earlier is now repaired and reopened. However there remains a 75' section (currently gravel) that needs repaving.

Afterwards, we might convene at the Vienna Inn for food, drink and resuscitation. Check with skate leaders before departure on skate day.

Directions to the Red Caboose
Location: W & OD Trail, Vienna, Va (meet by the red caboose)
