Duties--
- Coordinate and oversee the activities of the club and encourage the membership to actively
participate in club events.
- Work with the Board of Directors in all aspects of the routine operations of the club.
- Participate with all the various segments of the club (weekly skates, special skate events, NSP, Rock
Creek Park lessons, etc.).
- Promote the interests of WAR with other skate clubs, organizations, and businesses.
- Advocate the interests of the club and the in-line skating community before government agencies and
with other recreational sports clubs, e.g. WABA.
- Network with skate and skate gear manufacturers/suppliers.
- Average time spent per month: 10-15 hours, not including skating.
Membership Director:

Duties--
- Update and maintain the membership roster and produce membership cards.
- E-mail renewal notices to members.
- Coordinate with the Treasurer to ensure all members receive cards/t-shirts.
- E-mail club benefit information to new members (discounts, events, etc).
- Work with local vendors to develop sponsorship opportunities.
- Oversee t-shirt (and other spiffs) design and production.
- Solicit product donations from national companies (socks, etc).
- Assist overseeing club events.
- Average amount of time spent per month: 5-7
Treasurer:Danny Donoghue

Duties--
- Maintain WAR's financial books and records.
- Deposit members' dues into WAR's bank account and pay authorized club expenses.
- Prepare quarterly financial reports.
- Prepare financial reports for various events held during the skate season.
- File federal income tax form (because the club's income is below $25,000, just a box needs to be
checked and the form signed).
- Coordinate with Membership Director to keep membership roster current.
- Ensure that membership dues
have been paid.
- File the WAR Annual Report with the Virginia Secretary of State and pay the $25 filing fee. This report updates the registered agent for service, the corporate address, and the officers and directors.
- Average amount of time spent per month: 10-12 hours
Head Skate Leader:

Duties--
- Recruit and maintain a roster of Skate Leaders
- Create the weekly skate lead schedule and post it on the listserv and website
- Write and/or revise the weekly skate descriptions as needed
- Ensure that the skates resemble the skate descriptions
- Assist skate leaders in planning weekly skate routes, as needed
- Coordinate routes and/or leaders for special WAR skates
- Answer weekly e-mails from visitors to the WAR website (5-10 e-mails per week as of summer 2001)
- Administer the Skate Leader Awards.
- Average amount of time spent per month:10 hours, not including skating time.
Special Note: The Head Skate Leader should periodically participate in every level of the weekly WAR
skates to fulfill the above-listed responsibilities. Therefore, it is preferable that the Head Skate
Leader be an advanced and avid skater. For the other positions skating ability is not really a factor.
Events Director:

Duties--
- Welcome new skaters to the club.
- Plan and coordinate social activities.
- Send out official club announcements to members via e-mail.
- Maintain the warballot address book on yahoo.
- Retrieve mail from WARıs post office box.
Promote and encourage participation in club activities.
- Organize and promote skate trips and special events.
- Solicit donations.
- Average time spent per month: 5-10 hours.
National Skate Patrol (NSP) Liaison: (A non-elected board member by affiliation)

Duties--
- Serve as an active member of the WAR Board of Directors.
- Act as liaison between the WAR Board of Directors and the National Skate Patrol.
- Organize/lead/patrol as required for the Friday Beginners skate.
- Organize/conduct the WAR Saturday skate clinic in Rock Creek Park.
- Organize/conduct periodic clinics for the instructors.
- Organize/conduct periodic certification clinics for new/existing patrollers.
- Unscheduled/ad-hoc activities supported have been special skates (guest clubs at
WAR skates), special activities (A2A training, winter skate classes before the Sunday skate, NSP-DC
member meetings).
- Average time spent per month 24 40 hours during March October; workload
significantly reduced during winter.
Administrative duties include--
- Schedule instructors for the WAR Saturday Skate Clinic in Rock Creek Park.
- Schedule patrollers for patrol of Rock Creek Park on weekends.
- Create/maintain NSP information/contact lists.
- Create/respond to emails for WAR business, NSP business, and inquiries about the WAR clinic and
related
activities.
- Attend and participate in the periodic WAR board meetings, including planning and follow-up
activities.
- Organize/provide NSP/clinic materials (disclaimer forms/flyers/loaner pads and
helmets/brochures) each
Saturday.
- Organize/Coordinate/make arrangements for patroller uniforms and supplies (shirts, shorts,
wheels/pads,
handbooks, pro-forms, etc.) and distribute.
- Respond to national NSP inquiries and provide requested information, conduct NSP recruitment, collect
and forward annual membership dues, maintain Mission statement, participate in NSP teleconferences,
attend NSP meetings (EsSkate/Freedom Skate) and perform follow-up activities (review/comment on NSP
posters, NSP handbook, etc.), conduct periodic phone discussions with NSP Director, Rick Short.
